Human Resources Consulting

I provide expert advice to help managers and employees understand their rights and obligations in the workplace, so they can avoid or prevent workplace issues.

I apply plain language writing and design principles to clarify employment rules and obligations and explain your policies and procedures. The information is appropriate for the audience and is formatted to the situation.

Through clearly written correspondence, managers will provide instruction on expectations and corrective actions; employees will understand what is expected of them and what they can expect from their employer.

I apply the principles of plain language writing. A plain language writer has a clear purpose for each writing and:

  • Understands the readers' needs and abilities

  • Organizes the information to reflect the readers' needs

  • Is concise and provides only the necessary information

  • Chooses the right format for the situation

Plain language writing is not "dumbing down" the information; rather, it gets to the point without using unnecessary words or technical jargon.

I work with private and public sector clients, not for profit agencies and individuals to develop:

  • Correspondence

  • Reports

  • Policy and accompanying guidelines, forms and checklists

Training & Facilitation

I develop and/or deliver adult education training programs using experiential learning models. Typically, the training ranges from 1 to 3 days. The course and materials are developed so that your staff trainers can deliver future programs.

As well, I offer small group and large group facilitation services. Through a variety of activities, I will ask your key questions and ideas, so participants can contribute verbally or in writing. Raw data is captured and summarized in a report for your reference.
