Meet Jocelyn

jocelyn_pletz-plain_writing_specialist

I currently work as a freelance writer and editor. I am on the standing offer list for plain language writing and editing with the Province of Nova Scotia as well as registered with Flextrack for writing and editing services.

Through my 30+ years in public sector human resource management, particularly my work in labour relations and human resource policy development, I developed a passion for improved communication – both written and verbal.

This passion led to exploring plain language writing and how to incorporate it into the workplace. I believe that through precise language, employees and managers can better understand workplace expectations, rules, and policies.

Recent education upgrades include the plain language writing certificate and editing certificate through Simon Fraser University (Vancouver) and a certificate in adult education from St. Francis Xavier University (Antigonish).

I am a founding member of Plain Canada Clair and the Canadian Freelance Guild. I served as a Board Member of Row Nova Scotia and continue to be involved in the rowing community here in Nova Scotia.
