Meet Jocelyn

I have over 30 years of experience working as a manager and human resource professional in both unionized and non-unionized settings. I believe that people go to work to do a good job.

Business writers in many bureaucracies (and businesses), are trained to use a ‘passive voice’ when writing corporate or program policies and procedures. The use of 1st and 2nd person pronouns is rare and often jargon and acronyms are used extensively. This style of writing can lead to misunderstandings, even for those who have read the document from beginning to end.

As a writer, I work to ensure your target audience can find and understand your company's written information. As an editor, I edit for clarity, flow, language and usage; I provide the link between you, the author, and your audience.

Examples of my work:

  • writing policies, guidelines, process flowcharts and checklists, programs and program information

  • strategic human resource plans

  • business plans

  • writing corporate reports, annual reports and executive summaries

  • editing corporate materials for clarity, flow, consistency, grammar, language and accuracy

  • maintaining client relations

  • developing and delivering experiential based adult training programs to managers and staff
